Why is the liftgate on my Nissan Armada not working?
This morning I hit the open button and the liftgate unlatched and opened about 2 inches and then beeped and closed. I hit the opener again and it unlatched partially but didn’t open. I couldn’t open the liftgate as the secondary latch was still engaged. At this point it wouldn’t do anything. So I had to crawl in the back and manually unlatch it.
What to do if rear liftgate won’t open?
Take off the cover where your jack goes (3rd seat will need to be down). You will be able to see the arm that moves up and down with the motor. It should be bolted to a linkage that lifts the door. If it isn’t, then get a good bolt and hook it back up.

While in there, you can also activate the hatch using the remote or the switch in the back, but keep your hands out of the way so you don’t get pinched or worse. If those aren’t the problems, then there is probably something more serious, like a bad motor.

Bent latch pin. Hydraulic oil leaks from cylinder rod end. Platform will not raise to full raised position. Platform will not raise, liftgate motor does run. Platform will not raise, motor does NOT run. Platform lifts little or no load & platform drifts down when raised off ground, motor does run.
