What does key ID incorrect mean Nissan?

First thing to do is replace the battery in the fob. As mentioned RF interference can and will cause this issue. I recently started having to hold my key fob right on the car sometimes to get it to lock, and then once or twice the car didn’t recognize the key.

Sounds like the transmitter portion of the fob wasn’t working…most likely due to moisture or shock damage. It happens. Personally I’d just switch to the second fob for now, though you can get aftermarket fobs pretty cheaply…and even with a locksmitch doing the programming…probably cost you $100 or so all in for a new second fob.

Solved the problem by not carrying the other key. According to the 2017 manual, there’s a procedure to start the vehicle even when the key fob battery is discharged. So although not very practical, you should still be able to start the vehicle according to the following guide…
