What is FI motor?
Fuel Injection is a system for admitting fuel into an internal combustion engine which atomizes the fuel by forcibly pumping it through a small nozzle under high pressure, unlike in a carburetor which relies on suction created by intake air accelerated through a tube to draw the fuel into the airstream.
What is the difference between EFi and FI?
EFi stands for Electronic Fuel injection (EFi) whereas MPFi or MPi stands for Multi-Point Fuel injection and GDi stands for Gasoline Direct Injection. Earlier, older engines used simple Fuel Injection (Fi) which replaced the carburetor to overcome some of its shortcomings.
Is FI cleaning necessary?
CARS.COM — Cleaning fuel injectors is a service frequently recommended by dealers and repair shops. But unless there are noticeable signs of clogged fuel injectors (such as a rough idle, stalling, poor acceleration or high emissions levels), it might not be necessary.
What does PGM-FI mean on Honda CRV?
Programmed Fuel Injection
What’s the Benefit? This feature helps provide outstanding power and driveability, with reduced emissions and better fuel efficiency36—plus easier maintenance and repair.
How does the PGM-FI system work on a Honda Accord?
The PGM-FI system is one such. It actually combines three other systems – your fuel control, the air intake system, and your engine control system. Together, these three systems work with the powertrain control module (PCM) to manage performance, airflow, emissions production and more,…
How does the Honda PGM-FI fuel injection system work?
In technical terms, PGM-FI is an n-alpha mapped injection system. That means the basic variables are the engine speed (n) and the throttle angle (alpha). Based mainly on these two measurements, the system looks to its fuel mapping for the fuel delivery figure corresponding to the n and alpha of the moment.
What kind of system is the PGM-FI system?
The PGM-FI system is one such. It actually combines three other systems – your fuel control, the air intake system, and your engine control system.
What does the ” PGM-FI ” warning light mean?
What we have was a forerunner to OBD-I and it’s a little crude but it will self-diagnose a lot of problems. The PGM-FI light just indicates the computer detected a problem, a sensor failed to report data or something seems ‘out of bounds’ for the computer (ECU) to process.

Where is the PGM-FI code stored in the ECU?
The PGM-FI light is reset during the start sequence but the stored code is not erased. When the light comes on, the code for the error is stored in the ECU and can be retrieved for later analysis. Remove the ASHTRAY on the DRIVERS side of the BACK SEAT.
