What happens if I Leave my Nissan Micra without the battery?

I have learned the hard way that if you leave a Nissan Micra for a while without driving it, the battery can go completely dead. This isn’t usually a big problem, except for the fact that the electronic locking system won’t work either so you can’t get into the car to open the engine.

What’s the battery drain on a 2005 Micra?

I have a 2005 Micra 1.2 that runs its battery down over a period of a week if the car is not used. I have eliminated the battery as this has been replaced and the new one has been tested. I have checked the current drain on the battery when the vehicle is parked and it appears to always be at least 200mA, I have read it should only be around 30mA.

Why does my Micra 1.2 petrol not start?

I’ve just changed the battery on my wife’s Micra (53 plate) 1.2 petrol. Now the car won’t start. The ignition turns and all the lights come on but nothing happens in the engine.

Why does my Micra battery keep going flat?

Replacing the mass airflow meter will fix the problem. Early versions of the third generation Micra were known to have problems with the battery going flat. This problem is caused by a software failure. The VCM programming needs to be updated to fix this problem. It is covered under warranty, or Nissan might fix it as a good will gesture.

What should I do if my Micra battery drains?

The best thing you can do really, is tape down the bonnet switch if it has one, lock the car, and take a few readings over a period of time, say an hour or two, and see if it rises. As Stevie said, 0.07A shouldn’t kill a battery overnight, so either you’ve got a dead battery (is it actually holding it’s charge?) or something else is playing up.
