What does it feel like when a petrol i30 blows smoke?

When I accelerated, I gave it the stick just a slight amount, and revved it to about 4,000 RPM, going up a slight incline, all of a sudden, it felt like it shuddered, the RPM dropped to about 3,000, lost some power, and came good again.

Where did the smoke come from in my Hyundai i30?

At about 28,000km, when accelerating in third and changing into fourth at about 60km/h, a cloud of white smoke came from the exhaust. It was so thick I could not see a thing behind me. There was no noise or any other symptom except a giant smoke cloud. After pulling over and checking everything it appeared fine.
