Why does my alternator make noise when I transmit?
I have 2 buddies that have a noise on their radios when they transmit. It goes away if they shut down the alternator in flight. We have tried hooking up a “noise filter” to the radio with zero improvement. The alternator is charging fine, and tests fine. Both are home builts, one is a RV-4 and one is a Pitts.
