At what RPM does a bike stall?
As stated above, most motorcycles idle in neutral between 750-1500 rpm’s. Once your rpm’s drop below 750 your engine will start to sputter, this is because your crankshaft is spinning, trying to push the pistons up and down but there is too much friction.
Why did my bike stall?
A stall happens when there is insufficient power being fed from the engine to the rear wheel to get it moving or keep your bike rolling. Once you’re moving it’s all about balancing the usable revs of the engine with your bike’s speed, and remembering to pull in the clutch when you come to a stop!
How bad is stalling your bike?
If you stall a motorcycle it will not cause damage, except if you drop the bike. Stalling a motorcycle can be a safety risk, especially in traffic. Stalling the motorcycle will most likely not cause any damage to your motorcycle, but repeatedly stalling it over a long period of time is not ideal.
How old is the battery on my bike?
Thats why you test the charging system at 5k RPM – its within its operating range. If your battery is 4 years old then its probably stuffed.
Do you disconnect the battery while your bike is running?
NEVER DISCONNECT THE BATTERY WITH THE BIKE RUNNING! It is a very good way to blow something up, including your r/r, ecu and gauges. The battery soaks up a lot of transient voltages that the r/r doesn’t catch.
What should I do if my bike loses power?
Check the wiring, also check the fuses on the left-hand side behind the mid-fairing, take a peek under the ram air cover on the left and look at the wiring harnesses to make sure nothing has be de-pinned slightly in either connector, give them a slight tug to make sure they are fully seated in the harnesses. Keep us posted man…
What causes my bike to lose power / sputter while?
Pull out the plugs give them a clean and put them back in, run a couple of tanks with injector cleaner and see how you go. It FEELS like a fuel issue, like it’s intermittently not getting gas so it wants to stall. Thanks for the tips I’ll try it out and keep you posted.
