How can I cold start my XL250R bike?
To cold-start, I used ether for a while, until I discovered that I could prime the primary carb by laying the bike down on its left side for eight seconds, then hold the throttle open while kicking through the start cycle. Once warmed up, the bike would start and run perfectly all day. Until it wouldn’t.
Can a XL250R be converted to a single carb?
I have a couple xl250r’s and was wondering how your conversion has been .Does it still have the power off throttle.Is it still easy to crank. Thanks It starts very easily. Gas on, full choke, ignition off, kick through 6-8 times to get everything primed.
Is the XR250R a hard start bike?
Be sure to check your bike specs and adjust accordingly. yup even on the old vintage XL’s – if they are outta spec – hard start.
Which is faster a vintage 250 or XR400?
Thats funny, my vintage 250 is almost as fast as my XR400, which is punched out to a 440 with a Mikuni pumper. Also my vintage bike will start first or second kick always. When cold, my 400 is a biaotch to start. Sounds like valves all right. If they are adjusted properly it should start easily by doing the following.

What kind of engine does an XR250R have?
