Is the rear axle of a Polaris Sportsman broken?
I have a 2003 Polaris Sportsman 500. The right rear axle is broken. I cant get the axle to come out of the rear differential. Just wondering if i’m missing something. I recently replaced both of mine on my 01 500 and like you my axle’s did not want to come out. I ended up using a 15lb slide hammer that I attached to the rear axle.

How to remove axle from Polaris Sportsman 500?
Broke an axle on the old Sportsman 500 and had some trouble removing it from the diff. I hope this video saves someone some headache. The short of it is, pry the axle from two sides after hitting it with some penetrating oil… If it doesn’t have a punch pin, it’s just elbow grease and a straight pull to remove it… Good luck!
