What causes a carburetor to flood and not start?
The carburetor may flood if dirt enters the needle valve and prevents it from closing. With no way to shut off the flow of fuel, the bowl overflows and spills fuel into the carburetor throat or out the bowl vents. A flooded engine may not start because the plugs are wet with fuel.
What causes a carburetor to be idle all the time?
A rough idle condition is usually caused by an overly lean fuel mixture that results in lean misfire. A common cause of idle problems is air leaks between the carburetor and intake manifold (tighten the carburetor base bolts or replace the gasket under the carburetor), air leaks in vacuum lines or the PCV system or EGR valve.
Why does my 84 flhtc battery keep draining?
I believe I have a battery drain. Just purchased a new 350 cold crank amps and after a proper initial charge, and run, the next day the battery did not have enough juice to turn over. My 84 FLHTC has the EVO motor, and while it runs and sounds like a dream, starting it has become a issue. Any ideas?
What causes a carburetor to misfire when under load?
A hesitation, stumble or misfire that occurs when the engine is under load can be caused by a faulty power valve inside the carburetor. A carburetor uses intake vacuum to pull fuel through its metering circuits. As engine load increases and the throttle opens wider, intake vacuum drops.

What causes a car battery to not hold a charge?
2. A problem with your battery is causing it to not hold a charge. To check this, wait 12 to 24 hours after charging to the full voltage, keep the battery out of the vehicle and measure its voltage.
When to decrease the main jet on a carb?
If the engine is flat or will not accelerate, decrease the main jet by .004″. Since 2004 S&S shorty carbs have been fitted with an adjustable main jet air bleed (#13). Changing this jet to a larger size will delay the signal to the main jet, therefore aiding with high speed tuning as described in step 8.
