How do I check my skidoo stator?
- Determine the stator resistance range for your model Ski-Doo.
- Remove the engine cover of your Ski-Doo with a wrench.
- Locate the stator on your Ski-Doo.
- Power up the multimeter and turn the dial to the resistance setting.
- Examine the resistance reading on the meter.
- Reattach the negative battery cable with the wrench.
Where does the spark plug go on a stator?
-The two primary terminals on the ignition coil are shared by multiple components, and therefore will have two wires coming out of each. -The raised center terminal on the ignition coil feeds the power that goes to the spark plug. This is where the spark plug wire will connect.
Is the ZR 600 stator an open ignition?
Open Ignition: 1998 and newer ZR’s and ZL’s 1998-2002 ZRT 600,800 and 1000 with the exception of the 1997 ZR 580 that is an open ignition. With open ignitions a live wire goes from the ignition system to all of the switches.
What happens if you don’t have a stator coil?
The stator coil generates the power for the spark plug and other accessories on small engines Without a stator there would be no spark at all, meaning the engine won’t run. While a stator is dying, it can produce a weak spark, causing the engine to miss or run poorly. Symptoms are often worsened as the engine warms up.
What are the issues with a no spark motor?
Other issues related to a no spark/Weak Spark/Wet Plugs issue: Wrong flywheel on it. Sled was only running on one cylinder. Low side coil on his stator read 360 ohms and it should have measured 450 ohms. The low side coil was bad. It kept fouling plugs left and right. The guy before ran ethanol, and never told the current owner.
