With engine cold, thermostat will be closed, allowing only bypass fluid to enter water pump, as the bypass fluid warms, the thermostat begins opening to blend in cooler radiator outlet fluid so the correct temp going into water pump suction is maintained. (Most other designs regulate temperature leaving engine).

About 2 years ago I purchased a 1984 Yamaha Venture Royale. It was in great shape with 60,000 Km on the clock. It seemed mechanically sound and with a few minor repairs was a great runner, fast, powerful, comfortable and surprisingly agile for a big bike.

How to stop coolant leak on Royal Star Venture?
Thanks in advance. i would order new rubber plugs from Yamaha,and replace. but the quick fix is to put a coin over the rubber plug and put the fins back on. The thickness of the coin is enough usually to stop the leak, Ive read of several guys that put the coin in years ago and havnt had a leak since.

What to do when fluid runs out on a Yamaha Venturer?
Open the bleeder valve and allow 50% or more of the fluid in the reservoir to drain. Close the bleeder valve (while fluid is still coming out) and before the reservoir is empty. Release the lever with the reservoir cover still on. Fill the reservoir with new fluid and repeat the last 3 steps until the fluid runs out clean and clear.
