I just had the carb rebuilt by a Polaris dealer. It runs great. Idles perfect, accelerates great, perfect. That is until it dies. It acts like it runs out of gas OR the spark fails. I put a new fuel filter, fuel pump, and nice fresh gas on it. I seen on the polaris site that the spark plug cap can be bought apart from the coil.
Are there any issues with the XCR 800 Liberty twin?
The 800 Liberty twin has some issues with crank failure at around 2-3000 miles. I have yet to see a thread on here that has issues with an XCR… The big block twins are sure nice for low end torque, if you do a lot of stuff in deep powder and don’t want to spin the track, they work awesome.

Poor carb calibration, lousy clutching, and cdi/timing issues plagued this sled from the get-go. Jetted way fat and with very conservative clutching, out of the box setup left the new XCR staring at the taillights of any ZRT or Formula III it ran up against.

What causes poor running condition on Polaris sled?
As with most 2 stroke cranks, the XLT crank is pressed together with large pins. If any of the pins slip, the crank will then be out of index and can cause a simple poor running condition if the slip is minor to a major piston to head contact if the slip is major.
