Both my wife and I put about 90,000 miles on our 2003 K1200RSs. The K1200RS/GT is a very smooth and comfortable sport touring bike. All the repairs we had on our happened during the first 3 years while they were on warranty. After that they were trouble free.

When to replace clutch on BMW K1200GT?

It’s had the clutch, o ring, and rear main seal replaced at 69k (usually a package deal once you’re in that far) and is still running the original brake system. Can’t think of another bike that was more fun to ride as a solo bike, or would do a better job of pulling the sidecar.

When did the BMW K1600GTL come out?

Beginning in 2011, BMW began producing K1600GT and K1600GTL touring/sport-touring machines, powered by one of motorcycling’s few six-cylinder engines. Exceedingly smooth and powerful, that inline-six was also used in the category defying K1600B “bagger” beginning with the 2018 model year.

Are there any recalls on the BMW K1200GT?

Even sinking some $$$ into it is a lot less than a new K and the classic ones don’t have the mapping/switchgear and other such issues. The real question you should be asking is what is the service record on this bike and what is the status of recalls. These bikes other than normal maintenance were pretty bulletproof.

Is the BMW K1200GT faster than the R1200 RT / St?

Smaller tank than most of the boxers equals shorter range, but mine (an ’03) is quicker than the new R1200 RT/ST, not bad for an older lady. Can ride fast in the twisties but takes more work to do so than the above boxers. I rode boxers for 35 years and love ’em. Got the K and have had no regrets. Best wishes. Thanks.
