Why does my bike idle when I open the throttle?
Check the main jet in the carburetor. Maybe it loosened up – which would allow the engine to idle normally, but would severely enrich the mixture as you opened the throttle – leading to a lack of power.
What should the idle speed be on a motorcycle?
And you will usually not be able to adjust the idle level in any way. Usually we see the idle speed being between 1000 and 1300 RPM (engine revolutions per minute) when the engine is at operating temperature, and often as bit higher during warm up.
What does blip throttle and Revs hang mean?
Blip throttle and revs hang = rich/lean? are adjusted towards the lean side. If on the other hand a quick blip returning to the idle rpm the bike is running a little rich. Does anyone know of the underlying mechanism to this analysis?
Why does my bike bog when I open the throttle?

What should the idle speed be on a Suzuki butterfly?
There should be absolutely no vacuum leaks due to a worn stock vacuum petcock . Lower idle speeds will result in less hanging. Idle speeds of 1,400-1,600 RPM are known to work well. The idea is to set the butterfly open as little as possible while maintaining a stable idle.
Blip throttle and revs hang = rich/lean? are adjusted towards the lean side. If on the other hand a quick blip returning to the idle rpm the bike is running a little rich. Does anyone know of the underlying mechanism to this analysis?
Why does my bike not Rev at 1300 rpm?
Its a head scratcher for sure! On my bike, if I block the fly-weights so that the ignition is fixed at fully retarded, I can still rev the engine to as high as 2500 rpm. Since you cannot go above 1300 rpm, that rules out your TCI ignition not advancing, as a cause of your problem. This points to the carbs as likely suspects.
Why does my Mikuni bst33 idle so long?
If your bike is running a Mikuni BST33 (CV carburetor) and the idle takes too long to drop back down to acceptable RPM after letting off throttle, it is likely that idle mixture and idle RPM are not properly tuned. This is a very common problem with bikes that have been sitting for a period of as little as a few months to a year or more.
