What happens when you put the throttle on a motorcycle?
The bike revs it self pretty high. Not to redline but it gets up there. When the throttle is applied it seems like it revs sometimes but not how a normal motorcycle would.
Why are my Revs not dropping with the throttle closed?
It sounds like a vacuum leak. (a lean condition). One could surmise that this same lean condition could be caused by some crud partially blocking your fuel passages, but then you’d still need extra air. (Maybe the throttle blades have always been a little bit too open to compensate for some issues with the carb, and it is now coming to light?

After which the bike started behaving oddly. When I came to a stop, the revs would stay up around 2000, throttle off. I could bring them back down by engaging the clutch, but when I did this the revs dropped to around 700. My bike normally idles around 1050.

I adjusted the cables and magic perfect idle again. A tip on the weights determine if the mechanical advance is the problem is to warm bike up return throttle to off hit kill switch then wait till engine completely stops and without touching throttle crank bike.

It sounds like the carb slide or cable is sticking IMO,as said above. Its so strange because when I release the throttle it just goes back into place, I also tryed usng the throttle cable on other bike. I also adjusted the throttle wire tension barrel thing and put it all the way down (least tightest).
