Well if it’s any consolation, the last version of the flats have been reliable provided they were the original fitment. There seem to have been some failures when they were fitted under warranty following a failure of the earlier types. This is may be because there was swarf left in the oilways. Brian.
Is the Moto Guzzi affected by the recall?
He just forwarded me the email he received back from them, stating, “I have conformation on the bike from a Moto Guzzi Dealer that our machine fell outside the campaign so was not affected by this recall”. OK so I’m a little confused by this.

The oil should have additives such as detergents to keep sludge in suspension. (Moto Guzzi’s are martyrs to sludge.) Without this you will always be cleaning it out of the bottom end on every oil change, or resorting to flushing oil (as was the case with the Castrol).
