The 950 has carbureted (sic) perfectly everywhere, include up to about 5,000′ on a day when the temperature was in the 40s degree F. In case you haven’t heard about this, probably the most important modification that will help the 950 is to remove one of the air box doors. Some leave it with no door, others bolt on the Sommer KTM door.

Early bikes ’03’s or the equivalent water pump circlip (retains impeller) not fitted properly (very few bikes suffered this). Symptoms: overheating, impeller wearing on cover, black residue in coolant/tank. (if your impeller wasn’t worn this was not your issue) repair was to replace impeller and properly fit circlip.
