What makes the whining noise on a Harley Davidson?
I have heard this same noise on about 50% of the Harley big twins i have listened to that have the auto adjuster. So I wanted to see what you guys think and does your big twin with auto adjuster make this same noise?
Why is my primary chain making a rattling noise?
By doing this, the automatic primary chain will ratchet up a bit tighter if it was loose before this. The acceleration and braking causes slack in the lower strand of the chain and will ratchet it up tighter if it needed an adjustment. If it wasn’t loose there will be no noted difference.

The last bad one, was on my 2006 sporty, made it to 30,k and broke one morning in front of my home/garage….That i considered “My Lucky day” as no tow needed… Hoople is right on here and (it didn’t take much)…. may I suggest to ONLY “rotate” the tire in the forward direction of travel when adjusting…..

I have a 2K FXR4 with 5300 mi.I adjusted the drive belt according to the manual and it still has a chirping noise on decel.I tried making a little tighter and then a bit more loose and still have the chirping noise.I readjusted to specs and still a little chirping.Will this do any harm ?

While riding home from work today, I noticed a pretty loud whining noise I believe is coming from the trans. I recently changed all the fluids over to Amsoil. I’m using 75w-90 Severe Gear in the trans, I just don’t remember if it had a whining noise like that before.

What kind of bike makes a whining noise?
The bike is a 2006 Street Glide. Do these bikes tend to have a whiny trans or should I go back to the Harley fluid? While riding home from work today, I noticed a pretty loud whining noise I believe is coming from the trans. I recently changed all the fluids over to Amsoil.
