Where is the ignition button on a car?
On the left hand side are 3 wires soldered on…..one red (constant feed), one black (turns ignition electrics on). and a black/yellow wire which runs to 86 on the starter relay to fire the starter motor.
Why does my motorcycle start when I turn the key?
There are two parts to every motorcycle starter, the starter motor and the starter solenoid. The solenoid is a little magnet and when you turn the key, it shoots out a small gear that the magnet polarizes. Essentially, this gear starts turning which in turn starts rotating the flywheel in the engine.
How to turn the ignition on or off?
It has a unique shaped key, which is pushed in…..once in, the ignition becomes live. There is no need to turn the key to position 1 or 2 UNLESS you want to wire your headlights onto the additional attachements……..but our 1617 has a seperate switch for headlights so there is no need to do this.

Truck I have has a key ignition to start it. There is 4 wires soldered onto the side of the ignition barrel, then a 2 pin plug that pushes onto a 2 pin contact to the other side of the barrel.. Im presuming the 2 pin plug is what fires the starter, and the other 4 are ignition related.
Why does my bike not start when I Turn on the ignition?
If okay, check that the switch is getting power from the ignition switch when the ignition switch is turned on. If not, your ignition switch may be faulty at the lead that supplies power to the starter switch and is probably the culprit because we know the ignition circuit works – it’s the starter circuit in question.
What does pressing the start button on a motorcycle do?
Pressing the start button at this time will energize the starter circuit relay coil, allowing 12VDC to pass through the starter circuit relay to the starter solenoid.. When the starter solenoid coil is energized, the starter solenoid allows electric current from the battery to pass through to the starter motor, which in turn starts the motorcycle.
What happens when you turn on the ignition switch?
When you turn the ignition switch to the on position, current is sent to the start button. Pressing the button sends power to the starter solenoid, which sends a large amount of current from the battery to the starter to turn the motor.
Where is the starter button on a V-twin?
In the starting circuit you have ignition switch, run/stop switch, fuse, starter relay, solinoid and starter motor… Using a tester light you can see if you have battery voltage to the solinoid… Look for the green wire… Turn you ignition on and hit the start button, if the tester light comes on then your relay is ok…
