Why does my Triumph motorcycle keep starting up?
I have seen alot of starters do what you are experiencing due to wore out brushes, bad field coils, poor ground, corrosion hidden between cable and terminal, run a cable from the hot side battery to the starter terminal to bypass everything, test “backwards” back to the starter switch and don’t overlook the ignition switch.
Why does my Triumph Tiger 10 not start?
Can’t say the same for my old Tiger 10 with the maggy ignition. If you didn’t get it first kick, forget it. A bit of advice I had years ago: If it wont kick over don’t roll it down a hill to start it as it probably still won’t start and you’ve got to push the bastard back up!!!!

There is no excuse for such a cheesy ignition switch design on a 15k dollar bike. I never replaced the switch fearing the same thing would happen again leaving me stranded in an even worse location. Bought my 2008 Standard in August 2008.
