Do you have to run a generator on half choke?
A generator will generally stall with the choke turned off if either there too little fuel relative to the amount of air, or too much air relative to the amount of fuel. A clogged main jet in the carburetor, a clogged pilot jet, stale fuel, or leaky gaskets around the carburetor are the most likely culprits.
What to do if your car only runs with the choke on?
The different settings on the needle are for richer or leaner running. Make sure you do not have an intake leak. Spray some starter fluid or WD40 and see if the RPMs increase when you do this. If so you have a leaking gasket. I had to set my needle on the 3rd position, and the air screw adjustment is 1 1/4 turn out.
What causes a motorcycle to stall at idle?
Or, you could have air leaking around the throttle, just enough to lean it out at idle; the mounting boots could be the leak, or diaphragms in the carbs, that kind of thing. Wow, thanks both of you! I will try these things when my mechanic manual comes for this bike, the owners manual is like “here is the start button, a durr.”
What causes the choke out on a motorcycle?
If you are riding with the choke out (more fuel going in), and it is still dying, one of your carbs/injectors is not getting enough fuel. You could be getting back pressure (?) from a plugged pcv (positive crankcase ventilation) valve. Or the fuel may not be getting to/thru the injectors/jets.
