How do you test a stator on a Ski Doo snowmobile?
Unplug the stator plug in down at the case. Use a test light and put the gound wire of the light on the case. Then use the other end on each wire. If the light comes on your stator has a short and it is bad.
What voltage is a snowmobile?
Snowmobiles will use 12 volt batteries and are charged at 12 volts, with the optimal charge being 12.8 volts. If your charge falls below 12.2 volts, you probably have some issues with the battery. You can not use 6 volt batteries to run a snowmobile properly.
Are there any lights on my Ski Doo?
I have a 95 ski-doo and today the tach, handwarmers, taillight, dash lights stopped working but the headlight and speedo still work and the sled run’s great as always. What the problem with my sled guys? Thanks in advance Don’t drive at night problem solved.
What happens when the dash light goes out on a snowmobile?
Sounds like a broken wire. Look for in line fuses first. Just follow one of the dash light wires back to the common connection from the Mag. Usually if regulator goes lights will get very bright (high RPM) and of course burn out. Regulator holds the voltage to a max of about 13.5 volts.
Why does my Selenoid Ski Doo not start?
Never had any troubles. I have swaped batteries, a relay, fuses and selenoid from one sled to other and nothing. I took a test light from battery ground to orange/black stripe wire on selenoid and hit start button and it turned over. Ok, so when you did that did you press the start button or did it just turn over once you touched the wire?
What should I do if my Ski Doo won’t start?
OK, so I checked the manual, the black/orange wire is your ground. Check continuity with your meter to ground (disconnect it from the solenoid), if nothing you could test it by running a temporary wire back to your battery ground and try and start the sled. If it starts you know your ground on that wire is most definitely not grounded.

Can a Ski Doo formula stay the same?
1. No, they have a light that tells you to shut it off. 2. Possible, but don’t use the coolant reservoir as a guide. It can remain the same for an entire ride. After it warms up, touch the heat exchangers and see if they are getting hot. If they are fine, check compression when it is hot.
Why are there no lights on my snowmobile?
The tach runs of impulses from the stator as well… no lights, no tach, probably fried lighting coil, like TriumphoverU said… Check wires in the steering column or any harness for that matter, might be a short somewhere.
What was the problem with the Ski Doo snowmobile?
The second winter, the mechanic told me that one of the throttle needle valves became detached, and basically it “starved” the one cylinder of fuel and seized up the machine. He therefore he remachined the damaged cylinder.
