How do I know if my bike is in neutral?
On most bikes, if you hear a heavy “snick” sound, you’ve overshot neutral and hit second gear. Verify that you are in neutral by gently letting out the clutch. If the bike is still in gear, either the nose will dip down, or the engine RPM will slow. If this happens, squeeze the clutch to disengage it.

Its only got 7000 miles on the clocks. Basically it will not go into neutral as it jumps straight past it into 2nd gear when the engine is running.

I sat on the bike and realised that it would not go into neutral when the engine is running. I checked the clutch is adjusted properly which it was. 5.) I then turned the engine off and it shifts through all the gears and put it into neutral with out any problems.

What should I do if my bike won’t shift?
If the bike is turned off and it is difficult to get it into neutral, push the bike forward and backward which will rotate the secondary shaft in the transmission and allow the dogs and slots on the shafts to line up in order to get into or out of a gear. The cam on the shift drum could be worn rather than the pawl.
