Why does my Triumph 650 clutch not work?

Why does my Triumph 650 clutch not work?

As you set out for your maiden voyage and you pull the clutch lever in, nothing happens and the bike dies. The likely answer to your problem is your clutch plates are stuck together from sitting in some Joe Schmo’s garage the past 10 plus years.

When do the new Triumph clutch plates come out?

Spoke to Staffordshire Triumph, showed them the clutch plates and they suggested the steels look glazed with signs of overheating. I ordered a full set of friction and steel plates at £200 which are due in early next week.

What do you do with the clutch nuts on a triumph?

Using a special tool that you can purchase called a Clutch Spring Adjusting Tool you can remove the three clutch spring nuts. Once those nuts are removed you can take the pressure plate springs and cups off all in one motion. Now would be a good time to take a look at your springs.

How many miles does a triumph stick clutch have?

It’s done 43K miles yet has no service stamps at all. The owner (from new) stated it had never had valve clearances checked though oil had been changed. Other than the lack of some maintenance/history it’s pretty well immaculate for its mileage and looks original and true.

What kind of service life does a triumph clutch have?

Clutch housing and baskets fairly clean with very little residue. Release mechanism, hook and pin barely worn. All friction rings are with good service life 3.8/3.9mm and 3.2/3.3mm and all steel rings are flat and look virtually un-worn.
