When did I replace the cam bearing in my Fatboy?
Recently, Dave63 and I, installed a new Andrews cam in my fatboy, a 1998 Evolution engine. In the course of swapping a cam, you need to replace your inner cam bearing as well.
What was the cause of a cam bearing failure?
The rollers on the front bearing came out of the cage and ended up on the crankcase. The bearing spun and and ruined the bearing bore. It totally ruined an engine with 30 k on it. My friend ended up buying a surplus used engine that we went thru and upgraded the bearings before we installed it.
Is there a problem with the cam bearing on a Harley Davidson?
I agree. I have read Early Twin Cam Bearing Problem Identification – Harley Davidson Community and still hear about people with tc motors that do not fall into the bad years of the berrings and still replace them. I agree with the two previous posts.

If this problem is left unfixed and not noticed, there is a chance that the entire engine of the Twin Cam will be destroyed; pistons, cams, even engine cases. It is a really serious engine problem that needs a lot of attention to get fixed.
