Why do I need a crankcase breather on my triumph?
Oil mist carried in the gasses can also deteriorate the O2 sensors in the EFI bikes, and does no favours to things like the Air Intake Temperature and MAP sensors and other components in the throttle bodies. Redirecting blow-by gasses away from the air box also helps keep carburettors or throttle bodies and other internals cleaner.
What to do if oil is found in crankcase breather hose?
Here are some things to do if oil is found in the crankcase breather hose. Buy this specific part online here: The crankcase ventilation system is for gases to escape in a controlled manner from the crankcase of an internal combustion engine. It’s a one way process. First invented for tanks during world war 2 to keep water out of engines.
How much HP does a Buell crankcase breather give?
As an example on a 82-odd BHP Buell it has been found to give a nice and consistent 1 to 2 hp gain over a wide rpm range. The gain on a lower power Bonnie will be smaller but as a percentage it might be just over 0.5 bhp.
Why was crankcase breather banned in the 70’s?
In the 70’s emission laws came in banning open breathers so makers re-directed all the crap into the carburettors to be re-cycled and burned. These blow-by gasses effectively lower the octane rating of the incoming mixture by diluting the charge, displacing oxygen and, being hot, also lower the charge density.

What kind of oil does a Triumph T100 use?
I do so in my Bonnie T100. Triumph used to recommend 20w50 until they changed oil suppliers and the new supplier doesn’t make a 20w50, fully synthetics grade. Make sure that you do NOT use an automotive oil; it needs to be motorcycle specific. You can also use diesel motor oil; it works fine in motorcycles.

Where is the breather valve on a Triumph 650 Tiger?
On my 650 Tiger, there’s a rotary breather valve on the the end of the exhaust camshaft that releases crankcase back-pressure into the primary case. Accompanying those pressurized crankcase gases are trace amounts of oil. It’s not a lot, but it builds up.
