Why does my Virago 535 not start properly?
1. Original fault was not starting after a lay-off over last winter: Stripped down the carbs and changed the petrol pump because the pump wasn’t ‘ticking’. It was neither of those but the bike started after that – first go as I recall. 2. Now starting OK but:- Poor performance – no power and wouldn’t go much above 50 mph in any gear.

Where is the cast iron on a Virago 535?
Cast iron 90 degree flange that is bolted to the rear cylinder head, then the exhaust pipe goes onto that. If there was no washer in the rear pipe, did you take the cast iron flange off, you would have to drop the engine or at least have a 4 year old child’s fingers to get in and undo the bolts!
