Maybe try starting a new thread with “2000 sportsman 500” in the title. That should get anyone with the same machine to look into the thread. Give you a better chance of finding someone who knows exactly. The single cylinder engines have a Power Distribution Module that serves the same function as the fuses and relays.

Red (+) black (-) if there is no fuse on the wires put at least a 20 amp.fuse close to your battery. These are the main power suply. They will go in a.small black box. Also coming out of the black box will be the wires that run to the cable in & out switch.and there should be one heavy ga. Wire going to the winch motor.

Where are the fuses on a Polaris ATV?
On mine once you pull the fron track and the little center front panel (the hood) the fuses are right there staring you in the face. But if you’ve found the cdi box on the “firewall” then you’ve obviously got the “hood” off already.
Where are the Breakers on a Polaris Sportsman?
Probably under the front plastic right below the headlight pod. There are no breakers or fuses in the 2004, I got a 2004 a few months ago (used) and searched everywhere for them, had a problem.
Where can I get a Polaris shop manual?
Also if anyone is getting a shop manual, you can go with the clymer or others, but I got the actual from polaris, the post bound binder for my exact year and modle, and paid for it but it was invaulable investment.
