Are there any known issues with the KLX 650?
Both KLX models, C and R, have an issue with the automatic cam chain not being automatic, so there is a couple mods you can do to make them manual. Find the KLX650 Yahoo group for more info on this. Once you do that mod they are bulletproof rocks of a motor.
Is the 1993 klx650c worth the money?
I over-paid for my 1993 KLX650C with 4500 miles when I paid $1900 for it last year, and I stuck a TON of cash and effort into making it run decent and it still wasn’t perfect. Sold it for $1500 when a 2000 KLR650 came available; sometimes I miss certian things about it, but not very often.
Is the tansmission a KX or klx300?
The tansmission is klr650 as well as the starter and left covers. The rear swing arm and wheels are klr650 as well. Both calipers are kx and klx300. The only stuff that is model specific is the bodywork, frame, cases and topend.
Which is better a KLR or a XRL?
IMO the stock motor is stronger than any of the other three and responds well to better airflow going in and coming out. It is heavy, lighter than a KLR, but heavier than a Dr, or XRL.

Notable differences among the three models included their prices. In ’93 the KLR650 went for $3,899, while the KLX650 cost 20 percent more, $4,699, no mean differential. The KLX650R had a tag of $4,499.
What kind of engine does a Kawasaki KLX have?
Kawasaki’s liquid-cooled, wet-sump engine in the KLR was a very good one. It had an oversquare 100 x 83mm barrel for a total of 651cc, four valves in the head operated by two overhead camshafts, and fuel was fed via a 40mm Keihin carb. The KLX engine looked like the KLR and had those same rough specs, but was quite different inside.
How big is the swingarm on a Kawasaki KLX 650R?
A few changes were made to the KLX650R chassis to make the KLX650 more roadworthy. The swingarm, this one made of steel, was lengthened slightly to create an axle-to-axle measurement of 59.3 inches, which was good for the highway, not so good in the dirt.
