What kind of engine does a Harley Davidson FXRS have?
The FXRS has the power characteristics of a big-inch Detroit V-8 van engine an enormous amount of torque in a flat pattern over a relatively short rpm band and this is coupled to tall gearing. By comparison, a GS1100 Suzuki has less torque (52 to 59 to 53 range), but over a 5000 rpm band, and it has far more horsepower.
Why was the Harley Davidson FXR put on the shelf?
By the time the company ventured into 1990, it had deviated considerably from its original intention of bringing a sports Harley to market. This caused the sales to drop and the die-hard FXR fans to turn away in disappointment. Soon after that, Harley shifted focus to Dyna and placed the FXR on the shelf for a while.
What’s the difference between a FXE and FXR?
The FXR, a “sporty standard,” was sold alongside the rigid-mount, four-speed FX “factory custom” models, including the Super Glide, Wide Glide, and Low Rider. Despite the effort to keep it light and nimble, the FXR was actually 2 inches longer and 3 pounds heavier than the FXE Super Glide.
