How does Mikuni choke work?
It chokes the air flow to enrichen fuel mixture for better cold starting. The Mikuni “choke” is really not a choke, it is a “fuel enrichener” because it adds a shot of gas to the existing volume or flow of air. To open the throttle on the fuel enrichener system when starting, negates the effect of adding more fuel.

Clean out jets- pilot, mains, put new needle/seats in, make sure choke plungers are not stuck and adjusted properly, then make sure slides, idle and air screws are all adjusted and synched. Also put in new plugs, check wires and caps, add fresh fuel and hopefully you’re good to go!

What’s the problem with my Polaris XLT flooding?
Based on personal experience with the XLT and Ultra, I’m betting your problem is a corroded choke cable or sticking choke plungers. Pull all three plungers, and clean and lubricate the plunger bores. Observe the action of the plungers, and make certain all three are moving up and down
