Hi: You don’t take the shift motor apart — you remove the cover where the shift motor went into and clean out the old grease — put white lithium grease on them gears — also if you removed the spindle gear it has to aligned with the shift shaft. Remove outer plastic fuel tank cover remove the two 10mm bolts that hold down front of gas tank. located under front of gas tank under a rubber flap on front LEFT side on early model 450 es or front Right side on late model 450 es.
