The line from the manifold to the gas tank vacuum petcock should have been plugged if you replaced that petcock with a manual one. If plugged correctly, there will be no affect on the VOES operation. So, you do not NEED to replace the Keihin CV40 carb on your EVO unless you want to.

I just removed the S&S Super E carb from my evo motor due to the previous owner letting it sit for years. The gas had turned to varnish and I disassembled it all except the float assembly ( I am not sure what it would take to get it back at the correct level) , I soaked it in Berryman’s overnight and it was as clean as new.

When you go to give it some throttle though, it starts spitting back through the carb and missing. Especially under a heavy load, like riding up a hill.

What to do if S & S CARB is not turned in?

•If idle mixture screw is turned completely in engine should not run at idle. If engine continues to run at idle with idle mixture screw seated, recheck initial setting of idle speed screw, and make sure enrichment plunger is seated. If engine still runs at idle with idle mixture screw all the in, contact S&S Tech support.

Can a CV carb be used over a s and s Carb?

Unless you are going to do engine modifications that put you above 85 hp, you are not going to realize any benefits from the S&S carb. over your cv carb. If it’s the look you want, they make adapters to mount the S&S cover to a Keihn.
