Why is my XR250L hard to start?
Just keep the oil changed, filter clean, and check the valves twice a year. XRs come jetted very lean from the factory. If one doesn’t start easy, that’s the usual problem. If it’s not that, it’s usually tight valves. A dirty air filter will also make them hard to start. If the valves get out of adjustment, you can foul a plug on occasion.

What’s the average speed of a Honda XR250L?
I recently bought a 2005 XR250L I’ve done about 1500 kms on it, both dirt and road. Its very fogiving in the dirt, and a smoth bike on the road. Cruse’s on about 95km per hour, but will zip up to over 120. Great bike to ride around with the kids on their pee wees.

If you’re looking at a 250 with electrical start (and you’re in the USA) you’re looking at a NX250. The XR250 is a nice trail bike but if you want a 400, buy a 400. The 250 is never going to be a super-powerful bike. Yep you can put in a 300cc kit but it’s still not going to give you 40 HP.
