Why does my motorcycle accelerate faster than my carburetor?
The previous stated solutions to your accelerating problems only apply to motorcycles with carburetors. If you have a fuel injected bike with acceleration problems, your likely culprit is poor timing advance. The faster you go on a motorcycle, the sooner your ignition coil will tell the spark plugs to fire.
Can a car start with no fuel going to the carburetor?
Crank the engine and check for fuel at the carburetor. The engine may start with fuel from a remote source such as a fuel can. If the pump draws fuel from the can and not the tank the tank screen must be inspected and or replaced.
Why is my carburetor not working on my motorcycle?
As small of a part as it is, the carburetor spring is a vital part to the function of the carburetor as well as the rest of your motorcycle. If it malfunctions in any way, you’ll quickly be able to notice. A broken carburetor spring is often a culprit to poor acceleration on a motorcycle.
Why does my carburetor go off when I run a rich mixture?
When a vehicle is running rich, the fuel-to-air ratio is off because the carburetor is delivering too much gasoline. Typical symptoms of a rich mixture are:
What to do if your carburetor on your motorcycle won’t start?
I have bought dozens of motorcycles in the last few years from sellers who claimed the bike “didn’t run.” 99% of the time I got them to run just like new by simply cleaning out the carbs. If you have a motorcycle that won’t start, the carburetor may be dirty and will need a good cleaning.
What does it mean when a motorcycle carburetor is running rich?
A motorcycle running rich is sometimes viewed as the opposite as a motorcycle running lean. Running rich means that there is too much fuel in the air/fuel ratio inside the carburetor and will, in turn, make the motorcycle run poorly.
Why is my power V Star 650 losing power?
Will see while running it tomorrow. I don’t think it’s anything to do with your ignition, but by the sounds of it you have gotten some **** blocking your main jets in the carby.
Can a carburetor lack power at high speed?
Engine lacks power at high speed Carburetor floods Idle speed is excessive Engine starves for fuel at high speed (leans out) Check sequence of gaskets and diaphragms for the particular carburetor being repaired Jack’s Safety Tips:Before servicing or repairing any power equipment, disconnect the spark plug and battery cables.
What happens when carbs are rejetted on a motorcycle?
Motorcycle Carb Tuning & Rejetting Advertisements Clean, smooth acceleration happens when all components of the carburetor are cleanand tuned properly. The right sized jets, needle positions, and float settings will ensure there is no fumbling or flat spots from idle all the way to wide open throttle. Troubleshooting Motorcycle Carbs
How does carb effect throttle positions on a motorcycle?
Motorcycle carbs have a few circuits that effect different throttle positions. Pilot Circuit – small effect on idle. Higher effect at lower RPM’s with decreasing effect to full throttle Main Jet – Wide open. Fuel is metered through the main by the jet needle at different throttle positions.
What causes CV carburetor on Harley to slow down?
If there is a vacuum leak the gas will be drawn into the leak and cause the engine RPM to slow or fluctuate. DO NOT PERFORM THIS NEAR AN OPEN FLAME. Again it should be emphasized, the #1 cause of carburetor related problems on a Harley or other V-Twin motorcycle is VACUUM LEAKS. The CV carb is dependent upon vacuum to function properly.
Where are the carburetors located on a Honda CB360?
Honda stayed with the single throttle-lever Keihin carburetors on the CB360. Raising the rider’s seat gives you access to the throttle-stop adjustment between the units. The pilot-air mixture adjustment screws are located on the outside of each carburetor. You adjust the carburetors on a Honda 360 motorcycle using metric tools.

When did the Honda CB360 road bike come out?
Produced between 1974 and 1976, the CB360 was Honda’s answer to demands for a middleweight road bike with more power than its predecessor CB350. Honda stayed with the single throttle-lever Keihin carburetors on the CB360.
Can you drive with a bad mass air flow sensor?
You can drive with a bad mass airflow sensor, but you shouldn’t as it can lead to the damage of other engine components and your vehicle will use a lot more fuel than it should, especially at higher speeds.
What to do when your engine hesitates during acceleration?
But don’t let the copper wires touch. Now turn the ignition key to the On (run) position but don’t start or try to start the engine. Connect the meter black lead to ground and the red lead to each copper wire while you open and close the throttle valve with your hand.
Why does my Raptor idle when trying to accelerate?
Sounds like the accelerator pump isn’t working, or pilot is partially plugged, or air mixture is too lean. May be a combo of several of those things. When my sons Raptor was doing that, it was because the pilot was too small, then had to tweak the air mixture to get it just right.
What to do if your bike Idles when trying to accelerate?
Clean the carb, run some sea foam through it,if that doesn’t work, try your timing.if all else fails it could be a sticky valve and or a bent valve ( I ran a bike on a bent valve for 2 months before it blew) How do you check the valves. I’m not a mechanic but I can do the small stuff. Lol I have a 89 warrior. I put it in the shed during deer season.
Is the warrior Idles fine when trying to accelerate?
The warrior idles fine. I’ve adjusted to air mix screw back and forth. It changes the idol but doesn’t seem to improve things when I try to rev it up. 2.25 turns seems to be the sweet spot, as far as idol. The needle is where zoom put it.
