Where is the neutral gear on a motorcycle?

The predominant gear pattern for manual motorcycles is one down, and four or five up. Neutral is found between first and second gear. Start the motorcycle by squeezing the clutch, then pressing the starter button.

Can you shift to second gear on a Kawasaki?

Please note that many bikes will only allow a shift into 2nd gear while the bike is rolling. But you should always be able to shift between neutral and first gear. Why are the gears not working on my Kawasaki motorcycle?

Perhaps the clutch disks are stuck together and the clutch isn’t releasing; the shift lever may be moving but not quite far enough to engage first. Shut the motor off while you think it’s in first and try to push the bike in that state (without applying clutch lever). If it’s in first and everything is kosher the motor will fight your progress.

When do you go from neutral to 1st gear?

Hard to avoid somewhat of a clank or slight jerk when going from neutral to 1st. There is always some slack between the transmission shaft and the gear internal splines. Slack between the gears, slack here and there, even though it is just a few thousandts of an inch will all add up to a small “clunk”.

Why does my Kawasaki Ninja 650R go into gear?

It does this when warm (hours warm) and when a little cold (idling until the bike slows down the idle automatically). Is that normal? It seems like it should go into gear without jerking or anything. My bike is a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 650R with about 2500 miles on it. I bought it new, and it is under warranty until 7/2011.
