Shovelheads are supposed to run 0-12 psi range. Mine starts cold @50 psi and will begin to creep until the needle goes all the way around to the peg!

What to do about crankcase pressure on Shovelhead V-twin?

Start the engine and let it run at idle for a while with a drain pan under the crank case vent line. This may take a bit of time but it will eventually purge itself of excess oil. Hope this helps! I personally do not perscribe to the hammer and ball method for working on oil pumps.

What causes high Oil temps on a twin cam?

On the twin cam, high idle oil pressure can cause high oil temps. If the motor idles hot at 20 lbs of pressure, then the piston jets are never turning off. They are not intended to be active when the scooter is not moving. That’s why they have a valve and a pressure spring in them.

How can I raise the oil pressure on my V twin?

Call Baisley Performance and get his oil spring upgrade for your camplate. This will raise your oil pressure somewhat noticable. Or…get the Screaming Eagle camplate and oil pump upgrade kit and run the Baisley spring in it and you will be shocked at your oil pressure at idle and hot.
