Re: Arctic cat 400 won’t start…. Our early cars had the same problem…..it was due to a ballast ignition fault, the voltage to the coil is reduced from 12volt to 10 volts during start up. There may be a ballast wire in the ignition system that’s faulty. Run a new wire to the coil from the battery to test out the theory. cheers

Pull the white and blue stripes wire off the coil. Place red probe on wire terminal and black wire to good ground. Meter on DC volts turn key on voltmeter should read around 35 volts. I bet it reads higher.
