Why are my handle bars loose on my Harley Davidson?

Each handle bar clamp sits on top of a 1 inch spacer and its this assemby that is loose. I check the manual and the bike for a bolt to tighten and came up blank. Do I have to remove the handle bar clamps to get to this bolt ??

Manual says to remove the inner fairing to get at the handle bar clamp screws. Wow, thats quite labour intensive. Can this job be done by only removing the front fairing.

All the factory bikes have rubber mounted risers that have some play in them so the bars will move a bit. That’s the first I have heard of that about the springers having more play. Check the riser bolts under the top triple tree and make sure they are tight.

How much does it cost to change handlebars on a Harley Davidson?

The dealer says that Labor would be $142.00 plus $105.00 for a Twist Grip Sensor that is reccomanded when changing all handlebars. I think that this can be done wihtout replacing the Twist Grip Sensor. Should I attempt to due this on my own? Any advice would be appreciated.

Remove two (2) torx screws, which are located just slightly low right of the speaker, at both sides. Com’on you can find it You don’t need to remove any wind deflectors, and/or any lower fairing. Take your time. Remove the two (2) torx screws, which are located, kinda hidden, behind the forks.
