Where is the fuse on a car battery?
We do plenty of jumpstarting here at the shop and have never blown a fuse yet. In addition to the fuses they replaced already, there is usually a large amperage fuse in the feed wire from the alternator to the battery. Alot of times this fuse is hidden somewhere in the wire run. If this fuse is blown, it will appear that the alternator is bad.
Can a blown fuse cause a jump start?
Unfortunately jump starts can cause all sort of problems, and it sounds like there must have been some issues during the jump start attempts (e.g. blown fuses are a bad sign). But it’s very hard to say what’s going on without an ability to check things out.
What to do if your alternator blows a fuse?
If this fuse is blown, it will appear that the alternator is bad. Make sure the shop has checked continuity in the feed wire from the alternator to the battery before they replace the alternator. The easiest way to do this is to simply check for battery voltage at the alternator on the large wire. Damn! Thanks for that markbob.
What does a fusable fuse look like on a car?
Going between the + battery terminal and the underhood fuse box should be a wire called a “fusable link”. This “link” looks exactly like a wire, but is actually a fuse. They’re designed to bubble up if they’re overpressured, but don’t always. The “link” is designed to protect all the operating circuits in the vehicle from a dramatic pulse.
Why does my car keep blowing the starter fuse?
My car intermittently blows the starter fuse when starting. It started out doing it once every couple of months and would always start with a second fuse. Then it blew 5 fuses in a row and I had to have towed to a shop. The shop said they isolated the problem to the fuel pump and replaced it.
Can a 15 amp starter fuse be blown?
Fifteen amps may not be enough to blow the fuse on a one time deal but this repeated current surge due to the fan cycling on and off can weaken the fuse and eventually pop it due to heat.
Why does my fuel pump keep blowing fuses?
It started out doing it once every couple of months and would always start with a second fuse. Then it blew 5 fuses in a row and I had to have towed to a shop. The shop said they isolated the problem to the fuel pump and replaced it. It then worked fine for months. Now it is back to blowing intermittently.
What causes a fan fuse to blow out?
The initial current surge on a worn/dragging fan may hit 15 amps when it first comes on and could be what is knocking the fuse out. Fifteen amps may not be enough to blow the fuse on a one time deal but this repeated current surge due to the fan cycling on and off can weaken the fuse and eventually pop it due to heat.
Long story short, blown the fuse that is located on the battery wires that connect to the battery. Was sold the wrong battery wasn’t paying attention put negative to positive and vice versa.
What is the fuse box on a Nissan Frontier?

Why does my Nissan altma keep blowing the fuse?
A friend of mine has a 2006 Nissan Altma. The fuse that connects to the battery terminal keeps blowing..she will replace it..then after 100 miles or so it will blow again. Can anybody tell me what could be causing this?
What causes the fuse on a battery terminal to blow?
Depends on what loads are on the circuit of the fuse that is blowing. Also could be something as a chafed wire that intermittently contacts ground and pops the fuse. Wires harnesses are prone to rub throughs. Would need to know what fuse is blowing to go any further.
