Why does my Polaris 600 XLT not start?

Why does my Polaris 600 XLT not start?

I have a Polaris 600 xlt sks and It wouldn’t start after running flawlessly since I got it. So I changed the fuel filter, put in all new spark plugs, changed the gas, tested the compression on the cylinders and they were all right around 115 or 116, then I drained the gas from the cylinders and took off the spark plugs to air out the cylinders.

Why does my car idle with a rough spark plug?

Spark Plugs A rough engine idle, can be caused by, spark plugs or wires. Spark plugs use the electrical current; received from ignition coils to ignite the air/fuel mixture, within the combustion chamber. A plug that is damaged or installed incorrectly, can result in fuel being burned at an inconsistent rate.

Why is my spark plug not working on my Polaris?

As you get to higher RPM’s, the problem gets worse as the arcing is causing the spark plug to not fire consistently or enough. It can load up the plug and foul it.

What causes a car to idle at low compression?

Exhaust and Intake Valves can be a big problem if they are carboned up. This can cause lower compression as the valve might stick open. A rough engine idle can be caused by spark plugs or wires. Spark plugs use the electrical current received from ignition coils to ignite the air/fuel mixture within the combustion chamber.

Why do I have a rough idle after spark plug change?

Its possible you didn’t seat one of the coils all the way down on to the plug, or if you disconnected any of the harness from the coil packs then maybe it didn’t get plugged back up properly. Awesome! thank you sir, I was thinking that could very well be what is going on.

Why is my snowmobile running on one cylinder?

What do you know after warming the sled up and hitting the gas I fouled a plug. It was the PTO plug this time. Also blew out the low beams! So im thinking coil since it switch cylinders after swithing the wires. new 80.00 coil and the problem is still present! I started it and pulled the plug caps off just a bit to check spark..

Where is the coil located on a Polaris?

The problem is on the coil. The dual coil is mounted to a panel inside the front left fender well. There is one bolt going through the center of the coil mounting it to the panel, which mounts to the frame. The problem is not the coil, but the bolt that goes through the coil is a working chassis ground, i.e. it is the ground for the coils.

What does it mean when a Polaris snowmobile won’t start?

Please try again later. Polaris snowmobile will not start refers to when the snow-machine won’t activate and begin to work. Common symptoms of a snowmobile that will not start include, snowmobile will not crank over, snowmobile cranks but will not start, or possibly the snowmobile starts but shuts off immediately after.

What to do with Polaris Indy 600 XLT?

Reset the mixture screw per the manual, reset up the throttlebody / throttle cable, and the idle set screw. The result? the machine fired right up. It idles a little high (2400 rpm) and is a little slow on the take off, but I am thinking that might just be some minor adjustments of the throttlecable at the top of the carbs….

What should the TDC be on a Polaris XLT 600?

It’s worth checking. 0.010″ to 0.030″ is the spec. I am assuming the worst here because it ran before blowing a belt. Check the crankshaft to make sure it did not get knocked out of phase when the belt blew. Every 120 degrees of crank rotation one piston should be at TDC.

Why is my Polaris Indy 600 XLT not running?

Polaris Indy 600 XLT HELP! I have a “new to me” Polaris Indy 600 XLT triple I just bought last weekend…running. I used it two days ago without problem. Now it won’t start. Compression is good, plugs all have good spark therefore I am certain the ignition is fine.

Why is my Polaris Xtra Lite triple not working?

The Xtra Lite Triple was never designed to turn 9200 rpms and push out over 110 horsepower, which is why bolt on mods are all it can handle. A big factor in many piped and built up XLT failures is excessive heat. Removing the hood screens or adding a nosecone radiator is a good idea if you plan to really try and push the XLT to its limits.

What was the problem with the Polaris xc-600?

The piston problem was not usually associated with these sleds. 1997 XC-600* Most early build ’97 High Output monoblocks used the same engine as the ‘96s and suffered the same crank failures.

What was the secret of the Polaris triple stroke?

The secret was a resonance chamber machined into the casting of the exhaust port that allowed this short stroke triple to produce low end torque values comparable to the 800 VES domestic motor of the day.

Is there a problem with the 95 Polaris XLT?

95 Polaris XLT flooding problem Sven 2/1/04 5:45 PM From what I have gathered from the mighty “Google” the proper choke adjustment allows you to be able to pull up on the choke cables about 1/8″. This is how they are adjusted now.

Where are the bolts on a Polaris 600 XLT?

They are small 10mm bolts, one for each cylinder at the front of engine, under exhaust below the piston’s travelled path. I have a Polaris 600 xlt sks and It wouldn’t start after running flawlessly since I got it.

Where is the hole in the clutch on a Polaris XLT?

I ended up having a hole burning through the piston on the clutch side. It was right where the exhaust port is and that cylinder was running a little hot.  I didn’t loose much compression until the sled got good and hot.  Then it was a pain to start because the gas was getting right around the piston ring.  here is what I would try:

When to start a 1997 Polaris XLT 600?

I just picked up a 97 XLT 600 last night and tried to start it this morning, and it wouldnt start. I held the throttle and she was hesitant, but eventually started. Once warm, it will start first pull. When its cold she is a pig to get started.

What to do about a hard starting Polaris XLT?

Killed my weekend plans of riding, but just a small set back to a nice sled, which I paid short money for. Also turn the fuel off I went from 8 pulls cold to 3 just by shutting off the fuel. Needles and seats could be bad, try shutting the fuel off and letting it run for like 30 seconds and kill it.
