What causes the base gasket on a Harley to leak?
Oil leaking past the check valve into engine and I think pressure from excess oil in engine where it doesn’t belong blew out seal. NOW, the base gasket on rear cylinder started to leak. Can the excess oil when engine sumps ( I think thats what its called?) cause this to happen?
Why is the oil coming out of my Shovelhead?
It simply may be oil that has drained into the crankcase and has not been scavenged back to the oil tank, yet. It could cure itself after its run for a while. If not, may need an oil pump. If it has not been run in a while, it is just oil that has leaked past the check valve into the crankcase.
