Do you need a tach adapter for a Sportster?
There’s no telling what an airplane tach needs for a trigger signal. Your Sportster is a single fire ignition. Hooking up the tach to one coil lead will cause your analog tach to read 1/2 the crankshaft RPM since your only connecting to one coil. You need to use both coils for an input, meaning your gonna need a tach adapter.
What’s the average speed of an ironhead Sportster?
A Sportster can cruise comfortably at about 65 to 70mph, if properly geared right. Sometimes you have a good Sportster and it does well and sometimes you end up with a constantly broken down money pit. Theoretically you should have a good one if everything in the engine is within specification and you take good care of it.
What kind of motor oil does a 1972 ironhead Sportster use?
Be sure to inspect primary shoe for wear and to see that it is held in place tight on 1952 to 1976 models. For 1971 and later, with a wet clutch, a quart of 20w50 motor oil works well. No special Harley yuppie juice required. If you have a clutch that likes to drag make up a quart of 1/2 20w50 and half ATF.

New front & Rear Tires, New Brakes, rebuilt Generator, new voltage regulator, new battery, New Starter relay, new carburetor, new battery, new handlebar switches & wires, new fuel tank & new throttle cable. Mileage is unknown because speedo was broke & I installed New OEM speedo & tach 90 miles ago.

How do you remove a fuel inlet on a Harley?
In order to remove the original fuel inlet you must first break off the plastic molded elbow. Don’t be shy, get out your favorite hammer or pliers and simply snap the plastic portion off of the carb. It is important to first note the angle/position of the original elbow so the fuel line is routed correctly when reinstalling a new elbow.

DO NOT REMOVE THE INLET FROM THE CARBURETOR USING DRILL OR VICE GRIPS. This could damage the body or distort or broaden the hole where the new inlet presses into. Once the plastic is removed only the brass inner portion of the elbow will remain.
