Why is my odometer not working on my Harley Davidson?
Odometer & Speedometer were both working fine till a jacket I was carrying came loose and got tangeled in the rear wheel and disc brake of my 2003 883 Hugger. After pulling & cutting it out, the Odometer & Speedometer only work when at idle or moving below 10 mph while applying the brakes or turning signal, otherwise neither one works.

Where is the speed sensor on a Harley Davidson?
Take a look at the wiring for the VSS (speed sensor) It’s located not far from that area and furnishes the signal for the speedo. Other than that, a check of the wiring would be in order overall. VSS is appears fine and is not near the area that the jacket was tangled!
What should the calibration number be on a speedometer?
Diagnostics cannot be performed if system voltage is less than 9 VDC or greater than 16 VDC. The only exception is d08 which is set when system voltage is greater than 16 VDC. After all the diagnostic codes are displayed, the speedometer calibration number is displayed (CAL 14 for example).
