Move the oil pan to the rear of the engine where the oil filter is located. Firmly grip, loosen and remove the oil filter. Turn it upside down on the oil drain pan so the contents drain out. Fill the new oil filter with new oil.

In this video, I show you how to change your oil and filter on a Honda Shadow. Take the bike for a 10 minute ride to warm up the engine oil. Place the bike on a lift or side stand. Remove the drain plug with a 17mm box wrench or socket. Let the oil drain for 5-10 minutes. If needed, install new crush washer and reinstall drain plug.
