Why does carb cough, CV, just off idle?

Checked the enricher early on, along with carb seating. Even replugged the air/gas mix screw access hole (chewing gum) because the dealer told me that it could be sucking a little wind through there. But it didn’t come together until I changed the jet. Difference is amazing.

How do you change the idling speed of a carburettor?

Adjust the idling speed by turning the throttle-stop screw. If tuning fails to make the engine run properly, the carburettor may need cleaning (See Air filter change ), or the air filter renewing. Lift the piston while you adjust the height with a coin.

Is the Dyna Wide Glide a carb cough?

After buying a 2000 Dyna Wide Glide a year ago for half price from an unemployed friend who was moving in a hurry, I started to work on the low speed (and dangerous) carb cough. You know, one of those that gets you while low-speed turning. It idled pretty good, and ran cheetah strong, with some backfiring.

What should I do if my carburetor is not working?

For carburetors that suddenly show signs of being in a rich condition, gently whacking the bottom of the carbs to make sure the floats (tiny little pieces that control gas flow like the rubber piece in the back of your toilet) are free. Also check that the choke cable works.

Why does my MGB have a rough idle?

A while back we were discussing the possible causes of my MGB’s rough idle and many of you suggested that the carburetors could be the culprit. I wanted to blame it on the valve train, but before doing anything drastic, I decided to try out your suggestions instead.

Is it possible for a CARB to wear out?

Sure, they can wear out and become impossible to tune, but so can any other carb. As such, it’s a good idea to address any other potential problems before fiddling with the carburetors. I gathered together my set of standard open end wrenches, screw driver, carb cleaner, and a couple of rags and got down to business!
