What to do if your Honda starts up and backfires?
Cap was definitely plugged. I put the red straw end of a can of carb cleaner into the vent hole and sprayed down into it. Nothing, except the pressure that built up in the cap and blew the cleaner back out the top. Then I reamed the two small holes under the cap w/small drill bits and did the main top vent likewise.

What should I do if my Honda 97 dies?
Really amazing. After that and a spray down with carb cleaner and compressed air, new carb kit and an inline fuel filter installed, my 97 started like a champ. Test run afterwards showed the symptoms persist. See title: runs fine for about 10 minutes then starts cutting out, backfires, and dies.

Why does my Honda mower backfire through the CARB?
I get it started and get into the grass and after a couple minutes when encountering thicker stuff it will bog a bit and backfire through the carb, blowing the air cleaner off sometimes. I’ve looked at everything I can think of.
