Why will my motorcycle only run with the choke on?

Why will my motorcycle only run with the choke on?

If a motorcycle or ATV only runs with the choke on, it’s because the richer “choke on” mixture is actually closer to the engine’s normal operating fuel mixture than the leaner “choke off” mixture. So when the choke is turned off, the engine gets too little fuel and too much air for it to run and it stalls.

Many have also reported that the problem has all but disappeared when they modified the intake and went to a pod filter set up.

Why does my V-Star 1100 die when idled?

Because i can have the choke on and it will be idled high and run fine and i turn the choke off and try to use the throttle to get it to ide where it does when the choke is on but as soon as i barely turn the throttle like a 1/4″ it will bog down and die.

When to start the throttle on a V-Star?

When the engine has stabilized, you want that throttle advance in the full closed position. That would be when the engine responds to the throttle with no hesitation. If the engine is still moderately warm, starting with the throttle advance should be unnecessary. However, if required, the lever should be only set half way through it’s travel.
