How to measure float height on Polaris Sportsman 500?
Place the carb body (air filter horn down) on a flat surface. This will seat the float against the needle without compressing the spring. Measure the float height from the mating surface of the carb/bowl to the top of float at the center. Besure that both floats are parallel to one another. The measurement should be 13mm (.51″) plus or minus 1mm.

Remove the carburetour and bottom bowl on it. Visit your local parts store they sell carb and part cleaner it comes in a gallon. Remove all rubber parts from the carburetour and soak in the cleaner for 30 minutes Make sure to remove the jets and letg them soak. I use a piece of wire to clean the jets out.

Well, took my recently purchased predator out for a ride. But when I got home noticed the overflow from the carb was dripping gas. I pulled it in the garage thinking it would stop, but never did. I’ve cut the fuel off, and it’s stopped.

Thanks, I would take the bottom off of the carb and check the float that is most likley the problem that happend on my cousins raptor and after we took it apart and freed it up and made sure it was where it was supposed to be it didnt leak gas anymore. Yep…if not an issue with the float itself it’s something in the float bowl for sure.

Really impressed w/everything (except turning radius). As to the turning radius…you can get it to swap ends so easy it really doesn’t matter. you can also try tapping the float bowl with something, most of the time that will cure a sticky float.

It will allow the gas to leak down into the engine, which will mix with the oil and thin it out. It can also leak into the airbox depending the carbs location. Hope this helps.
